I was introduced to Crude oil cleansing about five years ago. I have been using them ever since. In my late twenties, I had very acne prone skin, and then, when I was pregnant with my first, the hormones wreaked havoc. I started to do research on natural skin care methods, and came across oil cleansing. I know the idea of washing your already seemingly greasy and acne prone skin with oil sounds scary. Truth is, I was desperate. I was also drawn to the science behind it – it really made sense.
I began the journey of oil cleansing by purchasing and blending the oils myself. It was definitely an adjustment to glop a bunch of oil and rub it on my inflamed skin. It was during this time I was on a girl’s trip, and my best friend explained that she found a company that had already blended the oils and moisturizers, so I didn’t have to it myself. Also, something called a Pull cloth, more on that later! As soon as I arrived home, I placed an order to Crude, and have never looked back.
WHAT IS OIL CLEANSING
Oil cleansing is just as it sounds. You are using oil(s) to clean your skin or face. While it might sound counterintuitive, oils actually help balance your skin’s natural pH and lipid layer, as well as the good bacteria that lives there. Crude explains:

WHAT I USE
Every night I use the cleansing oil, massaging into my face for 1 minute, then wiping down with a clean, damp pull cloth. It’s incredible just how much comes off your face. Gah. While oil cleanses deeply, it can repel water, the pull is essential in removing all that bad bacteria and debris. I follow up with their GLOW moisturizing oil and use BLOOM for occasional breakouts. I also use their DETOX mask weekly to help “polish and purify.”
Cleanse
Cleanse is a combination of five (sunflower, safflower, ylang ylang, grapefruit and bergamot) created to reduce inflammation, balance your skin’s oil production and help create a sense of balance. Best used with their Pull cloths.
Bloom
Bloom is their healing serum. Made with six of the most potent and healing plant oils (kukui seed, jojoba, reship, tamanu, geranium, and frankincense). It helps to combat acne, deeply moisturize dry skin and brighten dark circles.
Glow
Glow is their moisturizing serum. Made with six moisture-rich oils (sweet almond, argan, sandalwood, vetiver and sage). This is the oil that’s going to give you all the dewiness. Not to mention, it smells delicious!
Detox
Steering away from harsh exfoliators, this detox polishes and purifies- helping get to that deeper buildup. Made with French green clay and green tea- it’s incredible and leaves your skin feeling CLEEEEEEEEAN!!
WHERE SHOULD I START
I would recommend the Convert Kit as it includes: Cleanse, Detox, Pull cloths, Bloom, Glow and their body wash. However, if you would like to get your feet wet first, I recommend the Starter Kit, which comes with a cleanser, 6 pull cloths and a Detox mask.
