Made with 5 ingredients and a special secret sauce, this Whole30 recipe is the perfect burger for all your dinnertime needs! Kid-friendly, low-carb, and delicious, make it on the grill for quick, delicious meals that are sure to please a crowd.

Is there anything quite like the perfect burger? Especially when it’s loaded with fresh garnishes and a seriously good sauce? I’m drooling just thinking about it. While they can be made in the kitchen on the stovetop, the best burgers, in my opinion, come straight from the grill. Luckily, with warm weather on the way, it’s easy to do. With recipes like Grilled Chicken Kabobs, Cajun Grilled Shrimp, and The Perfect Whole30 Steak, our grill never stays cold long. However, I’m sure you already know how to grill a good burger. So, today I’m teaching you how to recreate it from the comfort of your own kitchen using a skillet!

What I love most about burgers is how versatile they can be! No matter how you choose to cook them, burgers are the perfect meal for get-togethers and cookouts. What I like to do is assemble a wide array of toppings. Then, we lay them all out on a table, and let our guests assemble their own however they prefer. Personally, I prefer to wrap my burgers in lettuce buns, but my kids opt for fluffy buns. Whatever you choose, it’s guaranteed to be delicious!

Even better, they’re super quick to make, and beef can typically be bought in bulk. All you have to do is form your burgers, heat up the grill or skillet, and  you’re ready to go. Plus, cleaning up is super easy. Really, I’m seeing no downsides here. Of course, you could opt for a restaurant version, but in my opinion, homemade always tastes so much better. They’re also made without fillers or mystery ingredients and cheaper than going to a fancy steakhouse.

Now that I’ve rambled on professing my love for burgers, are you ready to get cooking? Me too.

How to Make the Perfect Burger in the Skillet

As mentioned, I’m sure you already know how to grill a good burger, but do you know how to create the same results in a skillet? It can be tricky if you’ve never done it before, but the process isn’t hard!

To start, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add all the ingredients for the burger in a bowl, and use your hands to combine. Be sure not to over mix! You don’t want the ground beef to be completely pulverized.

Once combined, separate the beef into 4 equal patties, and chill them in the freezer for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes have passed, add a heavy sprinkle of salt to each burger.

Then, heat a skillet over high heat for 2 minutes, and use a paper towel to rub avocado oil around the pan. Add the burger patties to the greased skillet, and press down gently with a metal spatula. Let the patties sear for 4 minutes on each side.

After the burgers have seared, place them in the oven to bake for 4 more minutes. While the burgers are cooking whisk together the Seriously Good Sauce.

To finish, garnish the burgers as desired, add the sauce, and enjoy

*Cooking Tip: Make sure to only press down one side of the patties with the metal spatula!

Can I Make Whole30 Burgers with a Protein Other than Beef?

Of course, you can make burgers out of just about any protein source you have on hand! For the best results, I recommend using ground chicken or turkey. Just keep in mind that the flavor will be different depending on the type of meat used. Also, be sure to alter the cooking times for each protein source. If you’re not sure where to start, take a look at this article! You might also want to experiment adding in different flavors and seasonings such as garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and more.

The Best Toppings for the Perfect Burger (with Whole30 Suggestions)

What’s a burger without toppings? Not complete, in my opinion! The secret to these Perfect Whole30 Burgers is truly in the Special Sauce. However, I also love to load them up with all kinds of toppings. Of course, there is no right and wrongs when it comes to burgers. From eggs, to peanut butter, jams, fried onions, and more, I’ve seen it all. While they’re all pretty delicious, they aren’t always Whole30-friendly. So, I’m providing a list of my family’s favorite toppings, most of which are low-carb and Whole30 compliant. For the best burgers try adding:

  • Bacon

  • Pickles

  • Cheese

  • Lettuce

  • Avocado

  • Tomato

  • Salsa

The Health Benefits of Ground Beef

Unfortunately, ground beef often gets a bad wrap for being unhappy. However, the truth is, it has some incredible health benefits! Of course, the nutritional information of beef varies on the cut you choose, but as a whole, it’s a great addition to your diet every once and a while! For instance, beef contains a large amount of L-Carnitine which is a super important amino acid. It is also high in protein and helps build and maintain muscle mass. It is rich in minerals such as Calcium, Copper, Zinc, Selenium, Magnesium, and more. In addition, including beef in your diet can help prevent iron deficient anemia.
